Are You Physically Safe?

One of the biggest vulnerabilities when it comes to cyber security is the physical aspect. Unfortunately, a lot of digital implementations of security can protect you from external hacking measures, but can't protect someone from entering your home & potentially unravelling security or bypassing it altogether.

So it is extremely important that you take every measure to ensure your home or business is physically secured just as much as you are digitally. Especially, given cases where concerns of personalised or targeted attacks are plausible.

When evaluating your security, our objective is to ensure all points of risk & vulnerability are addressed so you can confidently feel you are genuinely safe.

Are Your Doors & Locks Safe?

The unfortunate reality is there are a number of ways that an unwanted guest may attempt to gain access to your property. Here are some of the methods you should be concerned about:

Brute Force Entry: Most modern homes utilise very weak doors usually composed of laminated timber layers & cardboard filler. In reality, it wouldn't take much to break through the door itself.

Picking Locks: Although on the rarer side, an experienced criminal could pick most locks very easily & leave your door perfectly in tact.

Key Cloning: Especially prevalent in personal attacks, if the attacker is able to get hold of your keys by whatever means, it is very easy for them to make a copy.

Flipper Zero Attacks: Garage door controllers rely on a Radio Frequency emission to open & close the garage door. Easily accessible devices may be able to capture & replicate this signal in order to allow for later access.

Why Go Keyless Access?

Key based entry is a thoroughly researched & understood method of entry that has been the standard for years. But because of this, it is able to be easily accessed & provides you no immediate response capability to a physical breach. A keyless system is by far the best way to go for a number of reasons:

Convenience: A keyless access method is extremely convenient as you simply do not need to carry around keys. You can allow temporary guests or tradesmen without having to leave a key under the mat.

Lockdown Control: An advanced access system will give you real-time control of your doors, so you can lock or unlock all doors at an instant.

Access Monitoring: All entry & exit activity can be monitored based on which authorised user has entered the premises. You can be notified when your kids are home safe or address any suspicious behaviours.

Picklock & Key Clone Free: Simply no keys, no risk of key exploits.

Choosing The Right Lock

There is a wide range of options out there when it comes to access control systems. Unfortunately, a lot of them introduce new risks & vulnerabilities while others only disguise the idea of going keyless. Our systems address the core weakness of these:

WiFi / BlueTooth: Most keypads have bluetooth or wifi implemented for app based configurations & administration. If these are not adequately secured, they are vulnerable to being compromised.

Backup Keys: Although convenient, a lot of handles or smart locks may have a slot for inserting a backup key. Sometimes these can even be generic making it very easy for someone to obtain a key copy.

Weak Third Party Support: Some of the applications used to access control of the locks may use cheap or unsecure software with known exploits which are not patched by the provider.

NFC always on: Some units may utilise additional methods of verification that can be cloned like NFC. In some cases, these are enabled by default & cannot be switched off.

For us, a custom designed Ubquiti system is the only way to prevent these risks & ensure you are safe.
